Backcountry Basecamp

The Backcountry BASECAMP Tour is heading back to Alta! Backcountry BASECAMP will make its annual visit to Alta to offer free demos and educational workshops at the base of Collins lift on March 8th and 9th.

Together with Scott Sports, Backcountry Magazine brings the beta published in every issue to resorts across the U.S. From the Berkshires to the Tetons, the Rockies to the Wasatch, Backcountry Magazine will join local guides, forecasters and avalanche instructors for weekend-long pop-up events featuring gear demos, avalanche education, local forecasting and a huge opportunity drawing benefitting a local non-profit.

Throughout the weekend, our friends from the Utah Avalanche Center will join us to discuss the local snowpack and general backcountry safety. Backcountry Magazine staff and The Backcountry Pros guides will be on hand both days for free workshops that will freshen up your beacon skills and teach you basic backcountry safety and etiquette. Join us in front of the Goldminers Daughter at 4:30pm Saturday for the opportunity drawing, all the proceeds go to Wasatch Backcountry Rescue.

Saturday, March 8th

• 9am: BASECAMP trailer and demos open to public

• 9:45am: Avy forecast with Bruce before the tour leaves

• 10am: Guided backcountry tour with Backcountry Pros

• 11am: Beacon Rescue Skills w Bruce

• 12:45pm: Avy forecast with Bruce before the tour leaves

• 1pm: Guided backcountry tour with Backcountry Pros

• 1:30pm: Red Flags Workshop with Bruce

• 3pm: Last demos out

• 4:30pm: BASECAMP opportunity drawing to support WBR in front of the GMD

Sunday, March 9th

• 9am: BASECAMP trailer and demos open to public

• 10am–2pm: Guided backcountry tour with Prival USA

• 11am: Beacon Rescue Skills w Bruce

• 3pm: Last demos out
