Join us Sunday, April 21 for Closing Day of the 2023–24 Season.
It's been another great winter at Alta Ski Area. As we head into the final days of the 2023–24 season, we've already received 621 inches of snow and our mid-mountain base depth sits at 150 inches. To cap off the great skiing we have enjoyed this winter, Alta will remain open daily through Sunday, April 21.
Our closing weekend looks to be an all-you-can-eat buffet of sunny groomers, slush bumps, goggle tans, glitter and hot dogs. As we put the finishing touches on an awesome 86th season, please consider the following operational updates as well as a few tips for making the most of Closing Day.
- Parking reservations are required Closing Day—Sunday, April 21 from 8am–1pm.
- Parking reservations will be checked at the top of the Wildcat and Albion ramps before cars are allowed entry.
- The Wildcat lot is a popular place on Closing Day and once this lot is filled it will remain closed for the rest of the day.
- No parking in Alta lots before 7:30am—even on Closing Weekend
- Ikon Base Passes are not valid at Alta Ski Area.
- Wasatch Benefit days are not valid on closing weekend.
- Please carpool—the UTA Ski Bus ended on April 13 and will not run on closing weekend.
- The Pickpockets will be playing music in the Wildcat lot from 4–6pm on Closing Day.
You may wonder with all this snow, why don’t we extend our season? Most of our employees are seasonal employees and we need to honor our commitment to them so they can leave for their summer employment. And as the temps rise in the valley, many skiers embrace other sports such as mountain biking, hiking and golf. Backcountry skiers will have the opportunity to keep skiing at Alta after our crews have cleared the mountain of ropelines, bamboo and all other operational materials. We will still offer skiing, but our lifts will go on summer vacation with the rest of you.
