Adult Private Lessons and Guides
Private Lessons and Guides are the best way to improve your skills and learn the more nuanced secrets of Alta’s incredible terrain and snow conditions. With their intimate knowledge of Alta’s terrain and winter operations, instructors of the Alf Engen Ski School will glady highlight the best of Alta while providing tailored instruction to achieve your goals in skiing.
Adult Intermediate Class Lessons
Learn alongside supportive and like-minded adults who also want to progress with their mastery on skis. Classes are created around specific skill zones allowing skiers to focus on areas of improvement alongside guests of a similar skill.
Skill Zone 4
- Leave the wedge turn behind and practice parallel turning while building the skills and confidence to enjoy skiing some blue slopes.
- The average adult takes two to four Skill Class 4 Lessons plus independent practice before moving into Skill Zone 5.
Skill Zone 5
- Experience smoother turns and parallel turn connections while exploring Alta’s blue runs.
- The average adult takes a number of lessons and practice days in Skill Zone 5 before moving into skiing steeper groomed black runs and introductory skiing off of the groomed trails.

Adult Multi-Week Programs
Adult Multi-Week Programs are a great way to improve your skiing with a group of friends who love to ski.
Beyond the Blues—a five-week program intended for intermediate skiers on Thursday afternoons. Consistency is key when pushing into progression with your skiing. This five-week program will foster a transition to smoother, more controlled skiing on machine-groomed runs with a focus on accessing steeper, black terrain. Classes are offered at two skill levels for those looking to tackle steeper groomed runs and those who wish to venture further afield off-piste.
- Session 2: February 27–March 27, 2025

Into the Off-Trail—a five-week program for intermediate to advanced skiers on Friday afternoons.
This five-week program will welcome skiers beyond groomed runs into powder terrain, moguls and a variety of natural snow conditions in a small group setting. Skiers will be divided up into sessions for intermediate or advanced skiers. Intermediate skiers will gain an introduction to smaller bumps and powder skiing on blue and some black terrain. Advanced skiers will practice mogul skiing techniques, venture into steeper terrain and dip into deep powder when conditions allow.

Adult Camps
Adult Camps are a great way to improve your skiing. With unrivaled variety, elite coaches, the best classroom and access to the secrets of a great experience, nobody does Adult Camps like Alta.
Ski More Places–a three-day camp for adults looking to expand their skill set.
The focus of Ski More Places Camp is to expand your comfort on varied terrain through the development and practice of off-trail techniques. Translate your skills to steeper slopes, moguls and powder. Intended for those who are confidently skiing groomed blue and black terrain, Ski More Places will refine your rhythm with the snow. Conditions will dictate the lesson’s focus and terrain choices.

Kids Class Lessons
Advanced-Beginner and Intermediate—available for kids ages 4–12. Our friendly instructors find joy and fulfillment in coaching the next generation of skilled skiers. Kids will have fun practicing turns and skills to ski green and blue terrain with confidence. Skiers should have previous chairlift riding experience. A Full-Day Adventures is only $240 and includes lunch.
Kids Advanced-Beginner and Intermediate Class Lessons >
Kids Advanced and Expert Mountain Explorer Class Lessons—perfect for kids aged 7–12 who are looking to make friends and learn new skills while exploring Alta’s terrain. Advanced & Expert Mountain Explorer Classes are designed to teach kids self-sufficiency, safety and fun on the mountain. Targeted toward kids at the ideal developmental stage, our small group lessons will push progression to the next level. A Full-Day Adventures is only $240 and includes lunch.

Teen Camp—Offered for a limited time during President’s Week. Your teen will make new ski friends and advance their skiing alongside like-minded peers. The camp will run continuously during the holidays and serve as a great way for teens to socialize and explore the mountain with a dedicated coach. Classes will safely venture into Alta’s most challenging terrain with a focus on line selection, style and technique. Teens will be taught the art of how to navigate through changing snow conditions while maintaining speed and control. For just $240 per day, your teen will make new ski friends and improve their skiing
Kids Private Lessons
The fastest progression for children can be achieved with age-appropriate coaching tailored to your child’s needs and a dedicated area of focus. Kids Private Lessons are for ages 4 and up and all skiing capabilities.

If the Alf Engen Ski School isn’t for you, the Sunnyside At 3 program is a great way to improve your skiing this season through an affordable season pass.

The Sunnyside At 3 program is your introduction to skiing at Alta Ski Area—from the wide-open beginner trails of Crooked Mile to the groomed intermediate slope of Bluebell to the steeps of Vail Ridge.
