Kids Class Lessons FAQs
We accept children ages 4 to 12 years in group lessons. For advanced and expert-level children’s lessons, 7 years or older is recommended. During some holidays we offer a Teen Camp for advanced and expert-level skiers ages 13 to 17 years.
Please call our Ski School Office at 801.799.2271 to discuss Private Lesson options.
Group lessons do sell out, especially during weekends and holiday periods. Reservation capacity is adjusted on an ongoing basis. While there is no guarantee, we advise that you check back periodically to see if your desired reservation date has re-opened.

Plan on arriving at least 30 minutes early for check-in and registration. Head to Alta’s Albion base area (second entrance) and enter the Ski School Ticket Office (parking lot level) or the Ski Adventure Center (snow level). Advanced or Expert skiers and Teen Camp participants may go directly to the Explorer Hut (adjacent to the Ski Adventure Center).
Please have your reservation confirmation code available (printed or on your phone) to expedite the process.
Check-in for all Ski Adventure lessons begins at 8:30am—complimentary care is provided before the lesson begins. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the lesson starts and pick up your child promptly after the lesson ends.
First Time through Intermediate lessons begin at 10am and finish at 3:15pm.
Advanced and Expert lessons and Teen Camp begin at 9:30am and finish at 3:45pm.
Once the groups are on the slopes, we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals, even with a reservation. Plan on extra time if you need to navigate ski rentals, canyon traffic, parking and crowds on weekends and holidays.
All-day lessons include lunch service.
Please be sure to discuss any food allergies or dietary requirements when you register your child.
First-Time, Beginner and Advanced-Beginner classes: During check-in, you will place a lunch order from a menu of kid-friendly choices, including vegetarian, vegan, and Kosher options. Gluten-free bread and bun options are available upon request. We cannot guarantee items will not have cross-contamination. Off-menu items may be available in certain circumstances; please discuss requests with your child’s instructor. Lunch is served in the Ski Adventure Center at noon.
Intermediate, Advanced and Expert classes and Teen Camp: These classes eat at one of Alta’s restaurants—Albion Grill, Alf’s Restaurant or Watson Shelter. Your child will order for themselves, with guidance from the instructor.
Animal crackers and hot cocoa may be provided during the lesson at the discretion of the instructor. If your child has dietary restrictions, you are encouraged to bring an appropriate snack and/or hot beverage.
