Which airport do I fly into to get to Alta? How long does it take to get from the airport to Alta?

You should fly into the Salt Lake International Airport(SLC), which is located a convenient 33 miles from Alta. Travel time from the airport to Alta is approximately 45 minutes. Discount airfare and car rentals are available, as well as other transportation services.

Do I need to rent a car to come to Alta?

It is not necessary. A variety of transportation services are available to access Alta from the Salt Lake Valley or within Little Cottonwood Canyon. If you do choose to rent or bring a car to Alta please be aware of and comply with the road restrictions(snow tires, chains, 4x4, etc) and overnight parking regulations.

What do I need to know if I am driving to Alta?

State law requires you have snowtires on your vehicle or carry chains in your vehicle between November 1st and May 1st. At times the Utah Department of Transportation(UDOT) may restrict(snowtires, chains, 4x4, etc) travel on the canyon road(State Highway 210). Where should I park?

We have parking lots at the Wildcat Base and Albion Base. If you have beginner skiers in your group or need day care or ski school services we recommend the Albion Base parking lot. Intermediate skiers and Advanced skiers are encouraged to park in the Wildcat Base parking lot. All lifts and runs can be accessed from either parking lot. Insider tip - Intermediate & Advanced skiers looking to get to the Sugarloaf lift or even Supreme Lift, use the Wildcat Base parking lot and ride Collins Lift. It's quicker and more fun.

What type of lodging options are available? Is ski-in, ski-out lodging available?

There are a variety of lodging options, including: Base Lodges, Condos and Vacation Homes within walking or skiing distance of the ski area. The base lodges at Alta are ski-in, ski-out facilities. There are also Salt Lake Valley Lodging options and various transportation options to the ski area.

Is there a central reservations number for lodging?

The lodging facilities in Alta are not owned or operated by the ski area. Alta Vacations (888.356.2582) an independent entity, can answer lodging questions and make reservations for you at the base lodges and other various properties in Alta.

Is there a Terrain Park at Alta?

We found that our skiers were curious about the park, and had a lot of fun times jibbing. But we were astonished to discover that many more of our skiers preferred to use the natural terrain features, on our 2200 Acres, as their "park".
