Alf's Restaurant in Alta, Utah is a mid-mountain cafeteria-style restaurant & day lodge located at the base of the Sugarloaf & Cecret chairlifts. Alf's offers employment, housing, and ski benefits.
Alf's Restaurant will begin hiring for the 2014-2015 season in October. Employment begins in early December and continues through the middle to end of April. We will have positions available for full time live-in and part time live-out cafeteria help. Full time employees are required to live on the mountain.
-Full time live-in
The full time live-in positions are great for people who want to do a lot of skiing this winter. These jobs are 5 days per week and the hours vary, but there is ski time every day. The housing is dorm style and is located near the base of the Sugarloaf Lift halfway up the mountain. The lift is less than fifty yards from the door!

-Part time live-out
The part time position is 14 hours per week. These positions are 2 days a week. The hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The work includes, but is not limited to food prep, deli work, bussing tables, snow removal, etc. Ski privileges are included. Housing is not available for these positions.

Kitchen help must be able to be active in the morning, and have experience cooking dinner (and preferably breakfast). He or she must be very conscious of cleanliness and food safety and perform duties unsupervised. It is required that you live in employee housing with a roommate.

We are a skilled and dedicated staff of 100 pros teaching in a destination resort setting. Alta skiers are intent on developing their skills and expect exceptional quality and value in their ski school experience. Alta's world famous snow, our unique diversity of terrain and top ski school reputation create the opportunity to teach skiers of all levels, including a high percentage of upper level skiers, both children and adults.
The minimum requirement for employment as an instructor with the Alf Engen Ski School at Alta, is current membership of the Professional Ski Instructors of America, Level 1 Certification as a ski instructor and a minimum of 18 years of age.
Applicants not possessing this credential may be eligible for consideration as an Instructor Apprentice, in either a full-time or part-time capacity. Qualifications for this position include:
An aptitude for helping others learn basic skiing skills.
A high comfort level working with young children aged 4 through 8.
A desire to excel in customer service.
Advanced alpine skiing skills required.
Tolerance for strenuous physical work in an outdoor winter environment. Shoveling snow, lifting and bending will be necessary.
An interest in pursuing further training to become a certified ski instructor.
Position is paid hourly.
Individuals employed in this role will work as aides to lead certified instructors during the course of the lesson, as well as perform other duties as needed to facilitate the smooth operation of Alta`s Ski Adventure programs for children.
At this time the Alta Ski Area does not have company housing available for those employed as Instructor Apprentices.
The Alta Ski Shop is looking for qualified candidates to fill seasonal positions in our Retail & Demo Ski Shops. Ideal candidates should Love skiing as much as we do, have a friendly and positive attitude and enjoy working with our guests. Cashier and/or POS experience helpful, previous ski, rental or outdoor shop experience big plus but not required. Neat well groomed appearance required for all positions. Average skiing ability important as some locations are located in mid mountain lodges requiring skiing to and from work.
Most positions are full time 30-40 hours per week with some part time positions available.

Skier Services is looking for outgoing, friendly, helpful, and welcoming individuals for the 2014-15 season.This position assists our skiers with the radio frequency ticketing system. The duties include orienting skiers to appropriate use of their ticket as well as monitoring tickets, analyzing any ticket problems and taking appropriate action. This is an outdoor standing position and candidates must have own ski equipment and be comfortable with skiing blue runs in non groomed conditions to get to your assigned work location. Shifts vary each day from 4.5 hours to 7.5 hours and may start as early as 8:15 and end at 4:45. Availability for 5 days per week and all Holidays is preferred. The season is mid November thru the end of April. Employee housing is not available for these positions.

Snow Cat Operators
Snow cat operators duties include packing new snow, grooming and plowing the ski runs. The schedule for the position is five days a week, two days off. The shifts are swing shift-4:30pm to 12:30am and graveyard shift-12:30am to 8:30 am. The crews rotate shifts at half season. Previous equipment operators experience required.
Duties include making snow and maintaining snowmaking equipment. This job is a full-time temporary position. Work starts October 25th and runs through approximately December 20th. The work schedule is contingent with the weather. There are three shifts:
Day Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Swing Shift: 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
Graveyard Shift: 12:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
