The Alta Freeride Division (AFD) is an expert-level skier program for 11 – 16 year olds. AFD is a unique program offering comprehensive exposure to big mountain freeskiing. Several intra-team competitions throughout the season are used to drive skill acquisition and mastery. AFD coaching emphasizes the IFSA judging criteria for big mountain skiing: line selection, attack, fluidity, technique and control. In addition to the competitive emphasis, the goal of AFD is to develop young skiers with experience, passion and respect for skiing as a sport and lifestyle. In pursuit of this goal AFD coaches foster the ethics of safety, sportsmanship and mastery of expert skiing skills.
